Ingredients:

Salted Caramel Sauce

  • 1 c. granulated sugar (200g)
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, room temperature & cubed (56g)
  • 5 oz. heavy whipping cream, room temperature (130g)
  • 3/4 tsp. salt

Iced Salted Caramel Macchiato

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the salted caramel sauce. Add the sugar to a medium sized saucepan set over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar begins to melt, then stir constantly until the sugar is completely melted and has turned to a deep amber color.

Step 2: Add in the butter and whisk until the mixture is smooth. Take the mixture off of the heat, and slowly whisk in the heavy cream until it is completely incorporated into the caramel, then whisk in the salt.

Step 3: Make the iced salted caramel macchiato. Optional, but for a more aesthetic drink you can use the back of a spoon to spread salted caramel sauce onto the inside of the cup.

Step 4: Pour 2 tbsp. of salted caramel sauce into the bottom of the cup.

Step 5: Add in your milk of choice.

Step 6: Add in ice, leaving enough room at the top for the espresso.

Step 7: Brew the espresso, then slowly pour it over the milk.

Step 8: Serve and enjoy! Store the extra salted caramel sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
